Who I am:
I am known at youtube as /wertstahl and i run www.battlecommand.org.
And i am a huge NIN and Aphex Twin fan. That just being said.

Blind in the dark. And deaf. And numb.

Except for the fact that some over at the youtube channel had the strong impression that the animal sequence for the mtv guy is a red herring,
facts roll back and forth over the mandragora officinarum theme.

We did a little in-depth research of vid 6, here is a contrast enhanced slomo of the entrance sequence into the room.

Today, also suspicions rose, that all this is a giant hoax.

Theoretical Background:
If one displays a sound graphically, where
- y is the frequency of the tone,
- x the moment in time and
- the intensity of the dot you draw there,
is taken from the intensity of the signal,
you in simple words get what is called a spectrogram.

It is quite easy to put pictures into sound. For example,
if you use FL Studio, it has a tool built-in thats called "BeepMap".

Aphex Twin did this first (afaik) and Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails did this, too, during his viral campaign for Year Zero.

That is, why i wanted to look inside the songs. And because "GOAT OWL WHALE BEE LAMA MONKEY" lead us nowhere.

(If you put these words into a text to speech synthesizer, which can be found here, it just puts out very vaguely what it could mean.)

What I did:
I grabbed the Videos from Youtube using Orbit Downloader.

I then converted the resulting .flv Files to .wav using AKME ffMPEG Gui. Using this tool, you can convert a flash video into nearly any desired format.

If you want to do contrast changes and stuff, i personally prefer TMPEGXPRESS4 .

Then i used Spectrogram 16, also known as GRAM 16 and visualized the sound.

Here are the results. Opinions and more add-ons to come.
But i think this actually doesn´t really light anything up. Unless someone can see something which i didn´t recognize yet.

Pictures are usually hidden in the entire stereo field. I know, scientifically the pictures are rubble, always one is INVERTED and one is positive.

Conclusion:
No pictures in the sound. Except for video 5, where one could suspect there is a root near the end. Not clear enough. Speculation.

Hard Facts + my additional cents:
6 videos with 6 different soundtracks. There are 6 individual pieces of music, so much is clear.

A little tweaking in the sound of video 5 made the vocals clearer: "Now - do you know my name - you see - ?but you´re ... /?thought you´re ...

Speculative update on video 5 vocals:
"now do you know my name you'll see that your death has come"
For me, along with all the sixes, the witchcrafting, black dogs, hallucinogenic drugs, this strongly leads a path off the popular music path.

I mean - could normal people enjoy this? In a mall? In a truckstop toilet?
Thats where popular music reaches, right?

What puzzles me most, is something that nobody commented yet: she spins around on the tip of the tree she has bitten off. On first sight i found that actually pretty sexual.

More facts: all endings of all videos are mirrored. Means: the sound ends and is then reversed for a few seconds.

My opinion:
This is someone NASTY. Not polite and with in depth knowledge of human psychology. We´re not teased here, we´re messed around with. This is quite a big number and sales will be targeted in the hundreds of thousands.

This mainly targets internet people.

It is my opinion that this will be nothing for normal/commercial radio airplay.

And most of all: this will not be who we WANT it to be or who we EXPECT it to be, this will be who it is. And thats the only thing we could try to find out. Speculations are a dead end.
